Captain America Auction: New info for fans

Movie Prop Collectors has and will be, following theCaptain America: The First Avenger Auction, presented by Marvel Entertainment and auction house, Profiles in History. The auction is being held Saturday, April 14th at Chicago’s Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2). As exclusively reported in an interview here last week with Joe Maddalena from PIH, there are a few surprises planned for the auction.

To keep up with what will be happening, I try to read Profiles in History’s and Marvel’s websites and Facebook and Twitter accounts. I also regularly read a site called Collectors Ransom, which deals with pre and post sales results as it relates to the collectible & entertainment fields. The site is written & published by Fong Samgeneral manager for Profiles in History. As Fong is part of the Profiles team, he sometimes posts information about Profiles that is not available anywhere else.

On March 20th, Fong wrote an interesting article about “auction lead time“. Auction lead time basically is the time before and leading up to, the date an auction is held. In his article, Fong discusses what factors determine when, how, and where information about an auction is released. Such as when catalogs are mailed, media press releases are sent out, interviews are given, etc.

At the end of the piece, Fong wrote, “Profiles will need to pull a few tricks out of its sleeves“….. in order to capture and maintain collectors’ attention for the auction. After reading the above comment, I called Profiles in History, and asked Fong if he could share any additional information for Captain America and Marvel fans. While Fong said he could not give all the details now, he did share some additional information.

Fong said during the first week of April, Profiles will make a special announcement on their Facebook and Twitter pages regarding The Captain America Auction. Fong added that Profiles and Marvel will be doing something to reward fans who attend C2E2. They also know there will be many fans unable to attend, so there will be something for those fans too.

Be sure to check Profiles in History’s Facebook and Twitter accounts the first week in April, as well as Movie Prop Collectors.com for additional updates.
