Steve Szkotak from The Associated Press has reported that Guernsey’s Auction’s in New York will auction what is considered the largest collection of items from the ill fated luxury liner, Titanic, which sunk April 15th, 1912.
The collection of over 5,500 items are planned to be sold as a single lot on April 1st, 2012,which will be the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the vessel.
The items were obtained from various excavations over many years and many of them have never been seen in public.
More than 5,500 artifacts including china, ship fittings and portions of the hull that were recovered from the ocean liner were appraised in 2007 to be worth $189 million, according to the Titanic’s court-approved salvage company, Premier Exhibitions Inc., which is the parent company of RMS Titanic Inc.
