Starting today, November 25, the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York will present an exhibit of over 30 original classic movie costumes from some of Hollywood’s most famous films.
The exhibit aptly named, “Icons of Costume: Hollywoods Golden Era and Beyond”, consists of only a fraction of collection owner, John LeBold. According to Mr. LeBold’s business partner, Joyce Aimee’s web site, Mr. LeBold has been collecting Hollywood memorabilia for over 45 years and has amassed a collection of over 1,500 Hollywood costumes, props, and ephemera.
On display in the 6 room Turning Point exhibit are various classic costumes from many of Hollywood’s most famous films including. Judy Garland’s pinafore dress she wore as Dorothy Gale in MGM’s 1939 “The Wizard of Oz”, Marilyn Monroe’s gold lame dress from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”(1953), Arnold Schwarzenegger’s costume from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”(1991), James Dean’s costume from “Giant“(1956), and many others.
The exhibit is scheduled to run November 25, 2011 – January 28, 2012 at the Turning Point Event Center Exhibit Gallery. Admission is $6 with the exhibit days and hours of Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays: 12pm – 8pm and Fridays & Saturdays: 1pm – 9pm.
