Exclusive: Debbie Reynolds thanks fans at Profiles in History auction

Movie Prop Collectors was fortunate to attend the once in a lifetime Debbie Reynolds Collection Auction held by Profiles in History at The Paley Center for Media, yesterday, Saturday, June 18th.

Right before the historic auction took place, Debbie Reynolds herself came upon stage and addressed her fans, who are also her friends, with a heartfelt message.

Miss Reynolds thanked her fans, son Todd Fisher, daughter Carrie Fisher, granddaughter, Billie, and Joe Maddalena, Profiles in History, and Phillip Hoffman, for all of their hard work setting up the beautiful display of her collection at the Paley. It was like she had the museum she always dreamed of for an amazing 2 weeks at The Paley Center for Media.

Watch this exclusive footage shot by Movie Prop Collectors and stay tuned for more behind the scene and live auction action as it happened from the front row at the auction.

I was at the auction on the first floor, so we did not hear what Debbie said. Thank God you were smart enough to document Debbie’s speech to her fans. I bet you will get thousands of hits on this. Love your site.

Debbie Reynolds is a sweet lady. She gave a fan a once-in-a-lifetime experience. A dear (late) friend of mine was a Teamster driving Miss Reynolds to and from the set while she filmed “Mother” in Sausolito. When Miss Reynolds learned his 90-year-old mother was a huge fan, Miss Reynolds kindly asked if she could visit his Mom. His mother was thrilled and had a fun visit with this gracious lady. When Elizabeth Taylor passed away, I was stunned that media kept reporting she was the last of the Golden Era Hollywood stars. Hello! We’re privileged Miss Reynolds is with us from that Golden Era, continuing to delight us with her work, and she is making a great contribution by having saved and preserved and made available the wonderful, iconic costumes featured in the auction. God bless Debbie Reynolds!
