Nicolas Cage’s Superman Action #1 found after being stolen in 2000

A very rare Superman Action #1 comic book stolen from Nicolas Cage’s California home in 2000, has been found in a storage facility in San Fernando Valley, CA .

Cage, who was to star in the never made 1990’s Tim Burton version of Superman, purchased the comic from Stephen Fishler, founder of New York’s Metropolis Collectibles.

The comic, worth an estimated $1-$1.5 million dollars, came to light when a man who wished to remain anonymous, purchased the contents of a storage unit from American Auctioneers located in Riverside CA.

Unsure of the comics value, the man asked American Auctioneers co-owner Dan Dotson for his help. Mr. Dotson then contacted collector Mark Balelo, who sent photos of the comic to Fishler.

Fishler flew to California last Wednesday and authenticated the comic book  during a meeting with the owner, Balelo, and LAPD Art Theft Detail Detective, Donald Hrycyk, who is investigating the theft.
